Privacy Policy
Effective August 25, 2026
Personal History Archive is a private, owner-operated application. It helps the owner search and understand records from the owner's own accounts and devices.
Google data accessed
The application requests read-only access to Gmail messages and their metadata. It does not request permission to send, modify, or delete email.
How Google data is used
Gmail data is copied into a locally controlled personal archive so it can be indexed, searched, placed in chronological context, and retrieved in response to the owner's questions.
Storage and protection
The active archive is stored on hardware controlled by the owner. Backups are encrypted. Access credentials are stored using the operating system's protected credential storage and are not placed in the archive database.
Disclosure to other services
When the owner deliberately asks a conversational service such as OpenAI's ChatGPT to search the archive, the minimum relevant search results may be transmitted to that service to answer the request. Those services process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Google user data is not sold, rented, used for advertising, or disclosed for unrelated purposes.
Retention and deletion
Records are retained until the owner deletes them. The owner can revoke Gmail access through Google Account security settings and can delete the local archive and backups under the owner's control.
Limited use
Use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
